We are a family of 6……2 parents and 4 boys. We are a fun loving and happy group. Mike is a guy from Boston and Ami is a girl from Cali. We are extreme opposites in every way. Mike lives in black and white and I am a whole lot of shades of grey! It appears that the universe was in need of some boys, so it brought us together. We had 4 boys in 5 years and neither one of us were expecting that. We live in a sleepy little suburb of Ventura/Los Angeles.
Last year my then 8 year old, Mason, asked if we could travel around the world for a year and see all the places he was learning about. Well, the world turned into the USA and a year turned into 4 months……but at least it is happening. We are leaving school a year early and traveling in our RV to Boston. There we will move into a brownstone downtown for a month and give the kids a little urban living experience. I have different people meeting up with us along the way. My hope as we go through this is to really get to know my kids as individuals and not just passengers in my “taxi cab.” They all have jobs, too. Aiden is in charge of power and water. Mason is on sewage, Preston is in charge of dinners, and Griffin is in charge of keeping track of miles.
We have so many people supporting us and interested in what we are doing that keeping a journal through a blog would be the easiest way to communicate. I’m sure there will be laughs, tears, and anger. I have faith that we will prevail and have great stories along the way and for years after.
